Animal Conservation

Our love for the ocean and its creatures extends far and wide. Oman Aquarium takes pride in its efforts to conserve natural resources, and has an area specifically dedicated for this mission – The Turtle Rehabilitation Facility

Turtles that have been injured or stranded are brought to the facility, and cared for by our specialized team. Once the turtles are healed and strong, they are released back into the ocean! The rehabilitation facility is open to guests with a curious mind, who wish to watch and learn about the turtle rescue process.

Annually, thousands of sea turtles migrate to the Arab Peninsula to lay their eggs. Oman has 5 of the 7 species of sea turtles. 4 of them nests in the beaches of Oman; Green Sea Turtle, Olive-Ridley, Hawksbill and Logger Head Turtle. The Leather Back turtle also cruises along Oman in search of food.

This initiative is partnered with Environment Authority of Oman to help protecting Oman’s unique diversity of sea turtles.
